Herodotus of Halicarnassus was Greek researcher, historian and geographer. He is often called the world's first historian a titled believed to have been conferred on him by Cicero, the ancient Roman orator. Herodotus wrote "Histories", a detailed account of the Greco-Persian Wars, among many other subjects such as the rise of the Achaemenid dynasty of Cyrus.
