NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day:

Big, beautiful, barred spiral galaxy NGC 1300 lies some 70 million light-years away on the banks of the constellation Eridanus. This Hubble Space Telescope composite view of the gorgeous island universe is one of the largest Hubble images ever made of a complete galaxy. NGC 1300 spans over 100,000 light-years and the Hubble image reveals striking details of the galaxy's dominant central bar and majestic spiral arms. In fact, on close inspection the nucleus of this classic barred spiral itself shows a remarkable region of spiral structure about 3,000 light-years across. Like other spiral galaxies, including our own Milky Way, NGC 1300 is thought to have a supermassive central black hole.

A dream perhaps,
of time spent with thee.
I had been away,
far across the Sea.
We partied, dancing until dawn,
until we both started to yawn.
No sleep, that was easy to see,
for I must go to work
to earn money again,
so we can go dancing
on this new dawning day,
for we were quite young
and we will just have to play.

No matter what you say or do,
my love goes on just for you.
Remember these words; no you will not
as your memory of our life has been forgot.

I'm not afraid and yet,
I fear for all children
and what we have beget.

What kind of World, will this be,
if all citizens are not free?
Where must they go
to be treated with equality?

You were just here.
Not very long.
Your life was cut short,
finished not your song.

When the music stops
but the dance goes on,
the life we know is over
and our friends are gone.

When the music stops,
in this World so grim,
it will be the time
to think of him.

I do not like this pen of mine
for the written word is much too fine.

Eating an ice cream cone,
when a drip went down my chin,
to hit my shirt; a spot alone.
I muttered, "Oh no, not again."
Don't worry. Stop making noise,
for all old folks are wearing,
their food stained clothes.

A sudden glimpse.
A perked up nose,
flashing of eyes,
do you suppose,
there is a smile?
Lips like a Rose,
a lovely chin
and now I know,
the heart within,
is beating slow.
A laugh as well,
a tinkling sound
of a silver bell
and so profound.
Hair of color gold,
invites you to
be very bold.
Don't go; Please stay.
She gets up
and walks away..

Where is the music?
Where is the show?
Where are the places,
We once did go?
Where are the sports,
We so adore?
They aren't here;
Not anymore.
Where are the friends,
We all knew?
What can we do
To start anew?

Ere years before,
in darkest time,
when day was dark
and not sublime.
A time of fear
and abject hate.
A time of now.
Can you relate?

Come here to me.
Come here now.
Tell me your tale
and make your vow,
to treat others seen today
the same as your family.
