We Have

We have a granddaughter,
not related by blood,
who won't get vaccinated,
no matter what I say.
My wife has Dementia
and loves to see
our granddaughter
who cuts her hair.
I don't want her near
to grandma or me,
until she is vaccinated.
Is this cruel of me?

Not cruel of you and very wise. Don’t give in!

I won't but I know it will hurt my son as she is his quasi daughter. He is at risk and she stays with him which makes me irritated.

The Room

Entering the dim lit room,
it smells of dust
and looks of gloom.
A small light, on the table,
to brighten the space. There is
a jar, of multiple items, some
wooden matches, pennies and
such. Among the items, I see a ring.
Interesting, I thought, a ring lays with
forgotten memories, of love and pain,
about two strangers, who are un-named
lays there in repose, with a dried up Rose.
What a story it must be,
a lost love; an old reverie,
of romantic days, in years gone by;
I bit my lip so I wouldn't cry.
Are the pictures, on the wall,
in this room, of a young lady and
a young man, whose name was Jim?

Very touching. Another one that makes me feel it’s part of a longer story.

Thanks. I need to clean it up and expand it. Caught my self when I said they were un-named and named him in the end.

You Say

You say "I love you"
over and over again.
I'm uncertain you mean them
when you don't know my name.

She doesn’t know your name but she knows she loves you - of that she is certain

Once again you bring your wise and honest reply. I found that true, all the years we worked together.

NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day:

Slide your telescope just east of the Lagoon Nebula to find this alluring field of view in the rich starfields of the constellation Sagittarius toward the central Milky Way. Of course the Lagoon nebula is also known as M8, the eighth object listed in Charles Messier's famous catalog of bright nebulae and star clusters. Close on the sky but slightly fainter than M8, this complex of nebulae was left out of Messier's list though. It contains obscuring dust, striking red emission and blue reflection nebulae of star-forming region NGC 6559 at right. Like M8, NGC 6559 is located about 5,000 light-years away along the edge of a large molecular cloud. At that distance, this telescopic frame nearly 3 full moons wide would span about 130 light-years. NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day:

Where do the dark streams of dust in the Orion Nebula originate? This part of the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex, M43, is the often imaged but rarely mentioned neighbor of the more famous M42. M42, seen in part to the upper right, includes many bright stars from the Trapezium star cluster. M43 is itself a star forming region that displays intricately-laced streams of dark dust -- although it is really composed mostly of glowing hydrogen gas. The entire Orion field is located about 1600 light years away. Opaque to visible light, the picturesque dark dust is created in the outer atmosphere of massive cool stars and expelled by strong outer winds of protons and electrons.

"In 1634, Rembrandt painted his wife, Saskia, as Flora — the Roman goddess of flowers and spring. One large bloom droops over her left ear from the wreath crowning her head, dwarfing the other blossoms in scale and splendor — a single tulip, its silken petals aflame with stripes of red and white. These tulips no longer exist Today, their closest kin are known as Rembrandts".
