Last night I sat with my wife,
she looked at me saying,
"Are you married?"
Yes, I am, my heart swaying.

"Where is she?", was said.
You're my wife, I did say.
She beamed, with her smile,
"I'm so happy, I like you today."

Being with her, my desire,
to remain close to her.
She's alone, in her mind,
it must be lonely, there.

Tell me, if you can,
directions to a better life.
A place of loving care,
where flowers bloom
and songbirds will sing,
Spring, Summer and Fall.
Flowers growing aside
a garden path, scented
with a sweet perfume.

Come my child,
take my hand,
as we travel to
a faraway land.

Travelling is free,
no need for money,
for it is the land
of milk and honey.

Paths of chocolate,
making you smile,
as we see a
licorice, crocodile.

Flowers of cotton candy,
won't cost you a cent.
They are free
from the oversize tent.

Sailing across
the whipped creme sea,
You must stay
close to me.

Flying high,
across this sweet land
of sunny beaches,
with brown sugar sand.

Blueberry sky's, with
marshmallow clouds,
the land is empty
no gathering crowds.

A path of caramel,
sweet chewy for you,
with dark chocolate
and milk chocolate, too.

When this day
is over and done,
you can be happy,
you can tell, everyone.

She sat next to me,
knowing me not, I fear.
A little moisture,
now in my eye. A tear?

Why the emotions?
I'm a grown man,
crying is not supposed
to happen, but it can.

When tears, course
down my cheek,
I try to be brave
but my eyes leak.

From out of the past,
through the back door,
my thirst for knowledge,
hungers for more.

Magazines, countless books
and a little TV, too,
I devour the knowledge,
to impress you and you.

The greenest grass,
mowed close to the ground,
when you walked on it,
there was a crunching sound.

Thank you for this morning,
my day is now complete,
Hearing about her reaction,
was a special treat.

I will write of you,
every night,
and think about your eyes,
so bright.

Our own tale of love
and tears.
Our worries about all
our fears.

A fear of losing
our love,
due to no
interest above.

Soft was the noise,
from within the park.
The Mockingbird,
the Meadowlark.

Beautiful sounds,
so crisp and dear,
musical notes
crystal clear.

So much joy,
so much fuss,
didn't know I was
on the party bus.

A few days of confusion.
Monday I was helping
my wife. She looked at
me, saying you don't
belong here. Leave.
I did.

Yesterday, she asked me
if I was married. I said yes,
She wanted to know who.
I explained it was she.
Her reply was, "No way!"

I understand. Not what
she is going through but
the confusion in her mind.
We have been married for
sixty-five years

Remembering when,
life was young
and now is old.
The story of life,
can now be told.

I see you,
my interest
is piqued
at best.

Not looking
for romance.
Just a chance
to converse.

I seldom
talk with
an adult,
except on
occasion,
with our
children,
or close friend.

Why do
I care?
Probably my
emotional needs,
blowing hot and cold.

Reactionary
at best,
certainly
not planned.
