A Twinkle in Your Eyes
A Comment by Loy
So sweet...
I saw a twinkle in your eyes,
It was yesterday.
Hoping that I will see,
Another twinkle today.
When a brightness, in those brown eyes,
Does appear, that's when I surmise,
That the one I love is here,
Not gone away; not when I'm near.
For the joy you'll see, in my face,
Brightens my day and quickens my pace.
I love you, Ellie
And always will.
I am still here.
I have not gone away.
Here I will stay
Until the end of my day.
I remember the aroma;
The smell of the Sea.
A memory of Oceans,
Then I think of thee.
The walks in the sand
With roaring of surf,
While waves come crashing
At the edge of the Earth.
Great memories of a recent past
With a melding of sounds
Over a World so vast.
Where are you now?
I need you to see
About what in life
Has happened to me.
The Maple tree leaf's fall
Fluttering to the ground.
Nature's Fall blanket.
There will come a time
in this life of ours,
when you will wish you
had spent more moments
with those you love.
There is no right.
There is no wrong.
Your feelings are
what keeps you strong,
so keep your thoughts,
store them away
and bring them forth
ere they fade away.
For all the words in my head,
While I lay dozing in my bed.
I feared they would just go away.
They did not, for here they'll stay,
Down on paper with scratching pen,
While awaiting more words
To write again.
The darkness, my old friend,
Is back to see me once again.
That is good, a promise kept,
As it's been awhile since I slept.
Tired I am, there is no doubt,
That depression will cry and shout,
To gain a hold in this life of mine.
Fear not for my thoughts entwine,
With love, for all I know
That keeps this aged soul aglow.
I smell the scent of morning
as I rise up from our bed.
I hear the beat of raindrops,
outside, upon the shed.
The sound of rhythmic breathing
could lull me back to sleep,
where the warmness of your body,
rises up, from beneath the sheet.
The silence then is broken
by some cars out on the street.
I move from you, so slowly,
on tired and leaden feet.
I check to see if I awoke you
but can't quite see your face,
then I step more quickly
and quicken up my pace.
This is my affirmation, just for you.
I'll love you always, no matter who
Or what comes to disturb our reverie.
For you my love, it's all for thee.
I love you the way you are
And will do so, whether near or far.
Hear the wind.
It whistles loud,
through open window.
Bringing more rain
to wet the ground
that slakes the thirst
of our gardens flowers.
Where do you go my darling
When you slip away
to another space in time
and into an eternity?
