so I now surmize,

I am falling asleep,
as I sit here and write,
so do not be impatient.

What's happened to the sky? Aurora! Captured in 2015, this aurora was noted by Icelanders for its great brightness and quick development. The aurora resulted from a solar storm, with high energy particles bursting out from the Sun and through a crack in Earth's protective magnetosphere a few days later. Although a spiral pattern can be discerned, creative humans might imagine the complex glow as an atmospheric apparition of any number of common icons. In the foreground of the featured image is the Ölfusá River while the lights illuminate a bridge in Selfoss City. Just beyond the low clouds is a nearly full Moon. The liveliness of the Sun -- and likely the resulting auroras on Earth -- is slowly increasing as the Sun emerges from a Solar minimum, a historically quiet period in its 11-year cycle.

All memories dim.
Some fade from view
to be discovered again,
by a sight or "trigger"
which opens a
new route to,
a long forgotten event
or perhaps, a happening
and, like magic,
the memory is there.
Capture it now,
for memories can be
elusive and attempt to flee.

Wash the paper,
sketch the subject,
faint the line.
Select your brush,
mix paint on the pallet,
keep paper flat
to avoid paint run
of watercolor.
Paint the picture,
wet or dry.
Work your art.
Nice first try.

There isn't much I can say, about you,
which hasn't already been said,
except to say, "you look remarkably well,
for someone, who I thought was dead.
How many days have been lost,
since we both entered life's fray,
when we hung with each other
and dreamed of the historical day?"

Clouds so thick; a marshmellow sky.
A marine push, we were told
which would bring, freshets of rain.
A light mist, which soon it fell,
brought little relief to the parched land,
dry to the hands touch.
The grass crunched as I walked
and plants were, tinder box dry.

Still bright in planet Earth's night skies, good telescopic views of Saturn and its beautiful rings often make it a star at star parties. But this stunning view of Saturn's rings and night side just isn't possible from telescopes closer to the Sun than the outer planet. They can only bring Saturn's day into view. In fact, this image of Saturn's slender sunlit crescent with night's shadow cast across its broad and complex ring system was captured by the Cassini spacecraft. A robot spacecraft from planet Earth, Cassini called Saturn orbit home for 13 years before it was directed to dive into the atmosphere of the gas giant on September 15, 2017. This magnificent mosaic is composed of frames recorded by Cassini's wide-angle camera only two days before its grand final plunge. Saturn's night will not be seen again until another spaceship from Earth calls.

Without the wind,

A dog called Spot,
a black cat called Sue,
left their town
on a horse named Blue.

They were looking for
an adventurous trip,
to the Big City
and new friends who were hip.

Leaving their town
on a sunny afternoon,
they arrived in the city,
a few minutes past noon.

The very first place,
was a park they saw,
where they stopped to rest
and heard a big caw.

What is that noise,
Spot wanted to know
They espied a
very black Crow.

Where are you going
the Crow asked of them?

A large crowd had gathered.
Many pigeons, a Squirrel, called Jim,
for he had never seen a horse,
at least not blue and so thin.

Come to the pond, over there,
said Jim, pointing his tail,
you can drink, quenching your thirst.
They all sipped from the water,
until their stomachs almost burst.

Sam, the Crow, then said to all,
"come here, the view is good."
The group saw chairs and tables
with people eating all kinds of food.

"I am quite hungry," said Blue.
I can't eat that, is what I say,
for I need me some grass
or at least some Timothy Hay.

They like the park, quite a lot,
as they gathered that day,
saying"we must leave now
and be on our way."

Bizarre behavior
when Sundown
kicks in.
It started at 4 pm
and finally was over
at 330 am.
She stayed in bed,
until 130 pm, the next day.
I was up at 7 am,
as I had things to do,
but fell asleep in my chair,
for an hour or two.
Now I am tired,
as I need more sleep, too.
