An antelope, a wildebeest,
were living in the zoo.
They met one day,
with a new member, Gnu.

Discussion was frank,
about what they might do,
if they could find a way out
of their cages in the zoo.

Do you suppose, if we hide,
during the early morning sun,
the keepers would think we
had escaped and were on the run?

Like many a plan, made before,
this one had too many a flaw
and when the sun arose, they
were nabbed by the long arm of the law.

If I could run,
without pain,
would I run again,
would I train?

Running, a way of life,
I ran after work.
Running miles, out the door,
wouldn't shirk.

There was a time, I believed,
I could run forever.
Hit the right pace,
run for hours, a sweet endeavor.

Started running marathons,
at the age of 55.
Ran 4 the first year,
really felt alive.

I no longer run,
my muscle tone is weak,
but if I can train again,
who knows what I can reap.

NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day:

Imagine traveling to a star about 100 times as massive as our Sun, a million times more luminous, and with 30 times the surface temperature. Such stars exist, and some are known as Wolf Rayet (WR) stars, named after French astronomers Charles Wolf and Georges Rayet. The central star in this image is WR 40 which is located toward the constellation of Carina. Stars like WR 40 live fast and die young in comparison with the Sun. They quickly exhaust their core hydrogen supply, move on to fusing heavier core elements, and expand while ejecting their outer layers via high stellar winds. In this case, the central star WR 40 ejects the atmosphere at a speed of nearly 100 kilometers per second, and these outer layers have become the expanding oval-shaped nebula RCW 58. "In Greenville, students can specialize in engineering beginning in kindergarten. Some critics worry the push for career education at young ages is putting business priorities before those of students and school systems" ..."Greenville is now introducing the idea of a career path to students in elementary school and giving students the option to follow those programs to middle and high schools, hoping by eighth grade they will have a better understanding of what they want to do after high school and what it will take to get there." Far off, life's beaten path,
he trod with weary foot.
On a mission, to survive,
his loss of mental state.

A loner, he was often called,
yet he still had close friends.
No interest in idle talk,
desiring to make life amends.

He loved many, it was said,
in a broad, platonic way,
persisting in his lot of life,
satisfying his soul, today.

Talking was good for him,
if about those he loved.
Cherishing those he knew,
as friends, from above.

A glob of words,
is what I think.
Some are great,
some just stink.
To paper they
will go in random jots.
I don't know why,
or have just forgot.
I need to escape,
from the place,
I'm in disgrace.
Why is my wife,
behaving this way?
She bit an attendant,
on this day.
I feel bad, not what to do,
knowing it won't help,
to yell at you.
Do you love me,
as you say you do
or is it something else,
waiting for you?
