I'll take a break.
A moment of solitude,
clearing my mind
of sadness.

Remembering I have a
circle of friends
and people who love and
support me.
I am most fortunate.

Memories, forgotten,
are beginning to show.
Springing from my mind,
from a spot I don't know.

How funny it is,
the way a mind will work,
for writing, if not easy,
is a task I will shirk.

I try to avoid writing,
of those days long ago,
full of sadness in
places, I no longer go.

About Love of Another

The day after,
the day before,
when life changed,
for evermore.

A happy life,
not anymore,
losing my wife,
sweet Eleanor.

Now I grieve,
for evermore,
losing my love,
my Eleanor.

How long,
must I live,
like this?
How much time,
does it take,
to heal a broken heart?

A silly, old
frivolous man,
searching for happiness,
once more, again.

I Struggle to Adjust to the Loss of my Wife

Why am I sitting here,
not quite awake,
while words flow from my pen,
while sadness I forsake.

I think of you often,
since you went away,
and I'll always remember,
our last Holiday foray.

I miss you more,
when thinking of you,
as I'm trying to decide,
what I must now do.

Over 55 years ago,
I bought a new car,
for my second childhood,
I was told, near and far.

A Fiat 124, Spyder,
in French Blue.
A roadster, convertible,
dual exhaust too.

Under powered, but a
fun car to drive,
as it kept my youth,
in staying alive.

Hey old friend.
Hey old Pal.
I miss our conversations,
your old friend, Al.

It's hard to believe,
we've been friends, 40 years, or more.
Almost a lifetime, but,
I'm not keeping score.

Where is the beginning?
When did it start?
Where love is lost,
in affairs of the heart.

I'm not your solution.
Please let me be,
for I'm being smothered.
Please respect me.

Purify the mind,
whatever the reason,
where I don't care,
about any season.

I want to live,
and be happy again,
be it stormy weather,
or a Spring rain.
