The Days

Posted by MFish • Profile • 03/04/19 at 11:14PM • Other • See more by MFish

The days are gone, the nights are too,
The weeks go by, much too fast.
While month after month, won't last
And then it's a year, one and two.
Before you know it years have passed.
The kids are grown and their kids too.
The next discussion becomes about you
And where to move the aging one
Before his life is over and done.

When Love

Posted by MFish • Profile • 03/03/19 at 11:28PM • Other • See more by MFish

When love does bloom
It brightens the room
And radiates up high
To rapture and sigh,
Of all the things
Not requiring rings
Of bells or flame
Or one to blame.
It's not to be,
For there's no certainty
Of our life's desire,
Until we do expire.
I wish I had
When a young lad
Expressed love to another.
For it matters not
What I have begot,
If it's kept away,
From those who say,
It will not be
Until you are free.

What's Gnu

There once was a Gnu, his name was Lou.
He was a very young Gnu, who couldn't do
Everything an old Gnu knew.
At certain times, in Lou's young life, you see
He wanted to do Gnu things, like you and me,
Because, if he didn't his mood would turn blue.
That wasn't supposed to happen to he,
To become the blue Gnu, named Lou.
Lou loved to run and gambol, like a young kid
And of course, being young, that's what he did.
Playing was good for Lou the Gnu, who grew,
Into a healthy and strong, Big Lou Gnu.
As you may have already guessed or surmised,
Lou the Gnu met a girl Gnu and was surprised
To find her name was Lulu the Gnu.
They married and in a very short while,
Young Gnus arrived; Lou and Lulu did smile.

The Naneum

Posted by MFish • Profile • 02/25/19 at 11:23PM • Poetry • See more by MFish

North of Ellensburg, not too far ahead,
Is a creek, with lock and gate,
Referred to as the Naneum Watershed.
When I was young and liked to fish,
I would go through weeds with dread
To wet my line and make a wish
For there were Rattlesnakes around
Lying somewhere on the ground.
To catch a fish, with hook and line
For fishing was a love of mine.
