Go Forth

Go forth from here,
no terms of endearment,
on this long summer day.
Dark, until
a single ray
broke through
the clouds, amassed
along mountains high,
across the plain,
until the time change
due to a burst of rain.
I now must leave this place,
for there is no gain
to await here where
there is too much pain.
