An internal choice:
Nobody loves me,
Everybody hates me,
guess I'll go eat some worms.

Lost and alone,
in the dark,
trying to remember,
where did I park.

When the cats away,
the mice will play,
except when the liquor,
is locked away.

Subtle message?
I think not,
more likely someone,
in charge, just forgot.

In the Bistro,
having a quaff.
TV on, someone said,
"I prefer it OFF."

A black screen,
who would you thank,
if your favorite screen,
would be blank.

Not I, said one,
with a big grin
as vodka dripped
from his tan chin.

I was lucky,
when I saw,
a bird's beak,
shaped like a saw.

Its beak looked like,
a rusty rip saw.
It was fun to watch,
when he moved his jaw,

wood sawdust would fall,
and a well-cut board,
clean as could be. It was,
hard to believe, all aboard.

Here I stand,
all dressed in black,
thinking I'm the reincarnation,
of Johnny Cash.

Boots on my feet,
black hat on my head,
when someone yelled,
"Hey, Johnny is dead.

I was shocked
when I heard the news.
I went to happy hour,
scarfing down some booze.

It was early in the morning,
about half past five.
I was running on empty,
trying to stay alive.

I received a call saying,
Hey, I think you are late,
for this important event,
your first blind date.

Wait a minute, I said,
before he hung up the phone,
"Who is this person? am I
to go all alone?"

He said of course you are,
is that too hard to understand?
Well, I went where I was told to,
and it was my very first one-night stand.

then you know I'm
not talking about me,
merely writing about a fantasy

Rainy days,
clothes a soak.
Is this Natures
own small joke?

It's not funny,
when you're soaking wet,
with the wind blowing,
an event you won't forget.

Next time out,
I'll cast a hex,
but to be sure I'll
buy some Gore-Tex.

When I was growing up,
it was no joke,
to be a man
you needed to smoke.

Smoking at school
was not allowed.
Plug tobacco,
could be found.

A small brick,
you could carve,
a "chaw" and place
between your cheek and gum.

A nasty habit,
if you decided to chew,
but with "chaw" in your
mouth, what did you do?

You carried a small can,
so, you could spit.
A disgusting habit,
I must admit.

I never chewed
for I had no chew,
as it stained your teeth,
not just one, but a few.

First it was Merry.
Now it's Happy.
How do I rejoice,
when I feel crappy?
