The Myles Standish Burial Ground (or Old Burying Ground) in Duxbury, Massachusetts, was established around 1638. It is the oldest continuously maintained cemetery in the United States, according to the American Cemetery Association. It is the final resting place for many Pilgrims, including ,John Alden, the Mayflower's first recorded burial and his wife Priscilla Alden and Myles Standish
The cemetery was abandoned in 1887 but it was reactivated in the late 19th century due to renewed interest in the grave of Captain Myles Standish, the military leader of the Plymouth Colony and a prominent figure in the Plymouth Colony's administration and defense.
