Why am I sad?
Feeling alone, forlorn.
Sometimes the thoughts,
why was I born.

What is my problem?
I'm stronger than this.
Perhaps it would help,
having a hug and a kiss.

I expect too much,
I'm an elderly man.
Friendships are important.
Hoping you understand

My mind feels cloudy,
though I'm not confused.
Feeling exhausted,
my body energy, used.

Missing some energy,
lacking in my drive,
keep on breathing,
needing to stay alive.

Another love lost,
another heart broken.
Wanting to visit but
the words lie unspoken.

A joyful vision appears,
pouring coffee into my cup.
It's good to see her,
she helps wake me up.

What value do we place on human Life?
Not much, when you think about those
in the Ukraine or on our Southern border.
Human indignities, are not strangers to
us. Yet we continue to not take care of
those, citizens or not, who are homeless, for what
ever reason or excuse.
Is that what our humanity has become,
"Do unto others, before they do it to you?"
We say, "Trust in God", yet here we are,
in these squalid parts of the World abusing
others. Tell me please, why does a Just God
allow this to continue?

in colorful clothes.
Passing by, strolling,
attracting adulation.

Frivolous, the talk
about a discussion
which was instrumental,

Dreary the morning
