Running Long
A Comment by Yelena
Breath in Life and Healing Breath our all what not suits you 🏹
Running long,
running short.
Get in shape
or you must abort.
You need the work,
to build your core,
increase your strength,
to exercise some more.
Count the days,
until your life will end.
Try not to fake the joy,
please don't pretend.
It's just a portion of
your long life.
You may soon find,
your love, my wife.
My mind wanders,
with information overload.
Too much information,
clutters the process road.
When words collide
and meanings change,
do we make a guess,
spell check or rearrange?
Interesting questions,
from a writer's view.
It matters to me,
unsure about you.
I write to handle,
my daily stress.
It helps me when,
my mind is a mess.
There was a place.
There was a time,
when life was good,
and very sublime.
It's been a while.
I know it's true,
but of late,
I'm always thinking of you.
Here I am,
with a mind too frail.
I believe I am in
an old mental jail.
Thoughts move slowly,
most of the time.
It makes it harder,
if my words are to rhyme.
Why rhyme words,
where there is no meaning.
It's because it was the way
I found myself leaning.
One never knows,
is what I will say
as I plan on doing it,
in my very own way.
When I was a young teenager,
not old enough to drive,
my father, got me a job,
herding cattle, for a small,
company. I had never ridden
a horse before. It was ok, as the
horse, unlike myself, knew what
to do and did, to my consternation.
Riding a horse,
hazing cattle,
for 8 hours,
in the saddle,
I started to babble,
about all the great,
things in my young life.
I hadn't yet, met my
soon to be beautiful wife.
Great memories, pop up
from my past.
I never thought they
would always last.
When your first love
has now fled,
should you give up,
now that your love is dead.
I think not,
I said to me,
for I won't run,
love I want to see.
A pang, passed through,
my side.
Oh, oh, I thought,
is this the pain they decried
I hope not,
I said to self,
for I do not pick,
from the prescription shelf.
Thank God, it wasn't that,
and my relief was good.
I can be such a wimp
but not when I should.
I feel forlorn.
I shouldn't be,
for I am with friends,
who look after me.
I'm a lucky man,
I know this to be true,
for the things I wish for,
I am fortunate to do.
I will do my best to stay,
positive in this life,
while I remember fondly,
the memories of my wife.
My lovely wife
of almost 67 years,
passed away,
8 months ago, today.
I miss her so.
a pillar, towers over me.
I don't understand,
for I feel great, but,
been told my life will end.
I know that is
the scheme of things,
but I feel strong and ready
for what life brings.
