I feel the ground tremble,
beneath my feet
and I step back slowly,
starting my retreat.
What is the nature of
this cause bizarre?
I ask of you, "Stay
where you are.
Please do not move any
closer to me,
for I fear for you;
let me be."
The noise in my head,
the pain in my heart,
will now keep us separate
and far apart.
What do I say now?
You've gone away
and I must stay here,
on this saddest day.

You are the Captain of my soul.
This I know to be true
For no matter what the role,
I will still love all of you.

I lay in our bed,
so close to thee.
I look at your face,
saying "Come back to me."
Come back to where you belong.
Be here with me now.
Return and be strong,
show me once more,
what it is like to be
once more a whole couple,
again together, as we.

When I first met her,
it was a passing glance.
Certainly wasn't a prelude
to a new romance.
Over the years, from
where it began,
a friendship was started
and remains to this day,
for having friends in
this World is important
to us, for living alone
should not be permanent.

My Soul is dead,
I will not lie,
For I was there
And saw it die.

Is it worth the risk,
the rest of your life,
when you begin to covet
another man's wife?
Or is it not a covet,
but merely a try
to have a conversation,
just one more time.
How can you be lonely,
when there's someone near,
who's physical presence is now,
with mental capacity, not here.
There is no conversation, coming to me
for I've lost the concentration
about what I need to be.
I'm saddened now; I want her to stay.
Only time will tell
which one goes away.

Down the long path,
in fading light,
I recall a past journey,
before the twilight .
A trip to remember
to a beautiful site.
If I could only
remember the night,
lost from my memory,
now out of sight.

Look in the past for the beautiful
image, I see next to me.
No one can tell us we can't love
each other, until the time we're free.
Please help me now,
for I feel like a stranger;
A strange thought for me.
Walk this way with me forever
and I will make you see,
my heart is breaking now,
as I no longer can be,
the mirror in the window,
of you looking back at me.

Sometimes I want to
lead a simpler life,
without hate or strife.
A place to live
around our friends,
where your life's mistakes
require no amends.

An exercise, done on command:
Draw a picture of your hand.
This was done 40 years ago.
Why I didn't continue? I don't know.
So now, I must, with old brain
Start again, working to re-train,
My eyes to capture, what I see,
On to paper again, so readily.

Away we all go.
Away across the Sea.
You go by yourself.
I won't be going with thee.
It is the end of our journey
through our life; you and me,
while we cling to this life,
for whatever it will be.

She sees but cannot see.
She hears but cannot hear.
She questions, asking to be,
Saying, "What's wrong with me?"
I say without remand,
"Your mind has no command.
Your thoughts do not connect,
I am here to protect,
from what you cannot see;
From what you cannot hear,
for all this life's eternity."
