The roar of the wind
through the limbs of the trees,
sounds like a Lion
with a real bad wheeze.
The wind blowing in bursts,
rattles our window panes.
Where do you go now?
What do you do,
when the sound of the wind
reminds me of you?

There is a special time,
when evening is nigh,
you are with me,
close to my side.
No social distancing
for us to decide,
it's time to enjoy life,
our eyes opened wide.

The old fool has risen,
he's going to fall,
his mind is not working.
It's not working at all.

Serendipity is now in play
as an old memories have gone away.
Ask not of him of what it might be,
For his exploits in life, you cannot see.

When I write down these words
on paper, using a pen,
are they becoming more absurd
or do I still continue to pretend,
I am a writer who
has now lost his way.
Please help me Lord,
for my mind has gone astray.

I reach out for you,
but you've gone away.
Your body is here,
the mind didn't stay.
I love you so
and will always pray,
please stay with me
until the end of our day.

Come see me now.
Come see me play.
Do it now.
Do it today,
For very soon,
It's gone away,
Never again,
Not even today.
The loss of time,
Has gone away,
No more watching,
Your Children play.

I see once again,
the far away look,
in your brown eyes,
when you try hard
to think and realize,
you know not of
objects, which you see,
as a puzzled expression,
comes rushing at thee.
What can I do?
What can I say,
telling you, your safe
and I won't go away.

We wont be together with our family
on this upcoming Thanksgiving
because of published guidelines.
I don't like it but I understand
and we will comply in an effort to
diminish exposure.
My wife, however, cannot grasp why,
it must be when others are
with their family. She has advanced
Dementia. What you or I can
justify why, she cannot use logic
or reason. It's sad for her
and painful to me, when I see
her anguish about not seeing
her granddaughter.

A shiver
A pain
Inside my head,
Has brought forth
A feeling of dread.

Where did you go yesterday?
I talked to you
but you wouldn't say.
You are my love
and you always will be,
although you don't know it,
I know it for thee.

Here is a riddle,
I write just for you.
Do you understand
now what to do?
Do you know when
your mind is all gone
and you are not the
person who's mind is done?
Why does this happen to she?
Why can't it simply be me?

A short burst of words,
down to this page
with the noisiest pen,
I've ever engaged.
Words continue to pop,
in this old head of mine.
Some new words perhaps,
but mostly quite dead.
Dead from the Latin
of so long ago.
Off in the night ,
I will soon flee,
for I believe Death
is now chasing me.
