What unreal nightmare springs
from my loved one's dreams?
I wish I knew. I could have tried
to change the course of her life.
There isn't more time, I cried,
to change your World back to sanity,
only time to return to humanity.

The old mirror
on the wall,
makes large objects
look quite small.
In the corner
I espy thee,
as you return
to visit me.

A few balloons
hung in the air.
No breeze to chase them,
so they stayed there,
stuck in the clouds.

Where is the magic,
when did it leave,
for the life of another,
much younger than I?
You said the words,
they came from your mouth.
Do not call me your friend,
as you no longer see me.
Please don't pretend.
I'm what I should be.

No more the laugh.
No more the cry.
Every day passes.
Not knowing why.
You are gone now,
Without a goodbye.

A bright, piece of life
is more grey today,
as my beautiful wife,
is not here to stay.
Her Advanced Dementia,
Alzheimer's, took her away.
Now all the brightness
has changed to grey.

Ellie, oh Ellie,
I'm missing you so.
I turn in the bed
and you aren't there,
while all my senses,
see you everywhere.
I am such a wimp
and want you to be safe,
cared for every day.
To be loved and nurtured,
in every, possible way.
I am sorry for not
being there, as I now wallow,
in my own self despair.

Your life is special,
it belongs to you.
Caring for yourself
and others too,
is good for your Soul.
It's what you do.

What element of weird are you?
What happens when your life is over?
Your spouse has gone away.
So here you are, outside this place,
where your wife is a resident of.
Standing alone, at the end of the day,
you will get to see her on the morrow,
it will soon be OK. She will adapt
and you will still be alone.

Tomorrow, January third,
a day I dreaded to see,
for it is the day, when
my loved one won't live with me.
I did not want this day to arrive
as it changes a relationship
of living free and staying alive.
I will still see you, but it won't
be the same. It will never be.

I think of you,
my mind goes blank.
My thoughts have dimmed,
as my memory fades,
away from the reality of
these days so frail.
The times are compromised
by the politicalness of vaccinations.
Why do you feel your rights are
being attacked. It's about Health
and safety. Get vaccinated.
Wear a mask, until this pandemic
is over, please.

Do you miss me,
like you said you would,
or has this old, heart,
hardened into a dense wood?
