I feel a tightness,
encircling my head.
I didn't know I was
now brain dead.

What happens,
when thoughts collide?
What's the outcome?
You must decide.

Across the broad plain,
of a solitary mind,
memories become elusive,
extremely hard to find.

Searching, ever searching,
for elusive thoughts abound.
Look in every cranny,
until memories are found.

You make me happy,
in your casual way.
I know not what to do,
when writing far away.

You make my day,
with your warm, good morn,
and I relish the time,
when I am reborn.

Reborn, once again,
with a future to see.
Not about a romance
for that's a fantasy.

I walked the trail,
through darkened wood,
lost in thoughts of
where life stood.

My love is gone,
with great regret.
I loved her since
the day we met.

Green were the boughs,
hung from the tree.
Sad were my eyes,
searching for thee.

Breaking my heart,
within my chest.
Please let me sleep,
for I need more rest.

Light of morning,
Light so bright,
Light is coming,
Holding back the night.

I repost this as my brain is stuck. I am tired.
this writing from July 4, 2021

I have walked this world,
almost one hundred years.
I challenge every day
to subdue my fears.

Step up for Ye,
run your own life,
as if you were
sharpening a rusty knife.

Wind blew sharply
on my bearded face
as I sought you
for a fond embrace.

An embrace
a hug or two.
Nothing short
of one with you.

Be here tomorrow,
my heart does implore,
receive my feeling,
of thee I implore.

Talk to me slowly,
with the softness I know.
Support the grieving,
let your words heal my soul.

I know you well,
I know you can,
heal my weakness,
of a lonely old man.

The sweet voice of sorrow,
rings from my head.
Spewing forth platitudes
about the dead.

Losing a loved one,
a lost sense of hope,
while you are struggling,
and trying to cope.

Reach out to others,
when your inner needs
the strength of another,
allowing life to proceed.

Wandering the path,
in wood and plain,
across green meadows,
I travel once again.

Over moss covered logs,
across creeks rushing,
over lichen covered rocks,
makes my heart sing.
