Wars
A Comment by Loy
Well said - so true.

Thank you, Loy
Wars are fought
to what avail?
It's still War,
it still fails.
No lives are saved,
freedoms not gained,
no bonds are broken.
We are still in chains.
You may be smart
and think I'm dumb,
but this is real,
I will not succumb,
to the hateful rhetoric,
so much entwined.
Are you so cruel,
with your thoughts aligned?
If you had one wish
and nothing more,
what would it be,
if you didn't keep score?
Do you remember the day
when we first met?
It was a cold, Tuesday,
in February, I think.
We were at a small bar,
having a drink.
You were alone,
I was too,
when I asked you to dance,
to a slow tune being played.
We discussed our old life,
back in the day.
We found we're interested,
in many similar things
and talked of the joy
those activities would bring.
What happened to you?
Where did you go?
I miss our discussions,
from so long ago.
A life is lost.
No longer here,
to share the time
or breathe the air.
To tell the stories
of life before.
Gone from here,
and gone away.
The laughter gone,
no tears of joy,
a veil of sadness,
soon overcomes,
as friends come by,
one after one.
When you are old
and play the game,
it is your voice's
echo, which will remain.
Words stick not
to your clothes,
but to memories,
in thoughts repose.
Repeat them now,
do not dispose.
All words are gone,
I must suppose.
Will you tell me why?
Can you say it well?
Don't write the words,
if you cannot spell.
The liquidity of life
is fraught with concern,
as we ask the question,
Will we ever learn?
Come back to me Ellie,
please come back to me.
I need to see the love in your eyes,
when you are looking at me.
As I walk in the yard,
of this place we dwell,
what was once a great space,
now reminds me of Hell.
The love which was there
has now gone away
and will not return.
Please hear what I say.
May I build you a house,
full of all your dreams,
from the beginning
when your life began.
The support and help you received
over those early, life years,
to bolster your status,
while reducing your fears.
Build strong the foundation,
as only you can,
with the support of others,
family and your friends.
Give me a hand,
whispered into the wind,
brought forth no answer,
from your closest friend.
Please take my hand.
Thank you for trusting
the likes of me.
I've admired your courage,
believing in what you do,
providing support to those
unfortunate ones who
are unable to promise,
a commitment for life,
willing to support you now,
bettering themselves
and to avow, their loyalty.
