Though I walk through the shadows
of the Valley of Death,
those things in life are dear,
for walking this uncertain life,
the shadow of Death is always near.

My life is in shambles
I cannot think
of words to write.
I'm on the brink
of losing my way.
I must leave
and go away.
Perhaps for a week,
a month or a day,
I need to move,
I cannot stay.

I hear the words rattle
inside my head.
No escape for the moment,
but just instead,
I'll write words tomorrow,
they may be read.

She rose from the mist
covering the pond.
A whisp of heavy air,
starting long,
rising slowly,
from a Fall breeze.
Chills in the air,
shaking of knees,
afraid was I,
needing to run.
There I stood
rooted, as if a tree,
knowing something
was coming.
Coming for me.

Life is good,
but is it fair?
Do we know,
or even care?

Wind shaped dunes,
roar of the surf,
wait for me.

Smell the salt air,
hear the birds sing,
when the wind blows
the sand will sting.

Pelicans swiftly pass
over the shore,
the cry of the gulls,
are gone, no more.

I am five foot four,
is what she said,
when just standing,
not in my bed.

What's the point,
I asked of she.
No point at all
just let me be.

Tall was my goal,
can't you see,
I wanted to be tall.
Taller than thee.

When I am old
and can no longer roam,
will you place me
in a family home?

It came at night
to steal your Soul.
No second chance,
the evening ghoul.

The moon waxes
from high above,
what has happened
to our eternal love?

Time to move on,
I have been told.
Being in memory care,
has gotten quite old.

I need to separate
from my beloved,
as she moves further
into Dementia-Alzheimer.

A smokey day,
a reddish haze,
reminds me of
the end of days.

A young woman then,
is older now.
We pledged our troth
and made a vow.
Her memory is gone,
mine is going too.
What in the World
am I to do?
