My Love

Posted by MFish • Profile • 09/19/23 at 05:27AM • Life Stories - Memories • See more by MFish

My love grows stronger,
as I await,
your arrival,
from out of state.

Twas true before,
but now it's too late,
for she can no longer
travel with her mate.

What a loss for you my dear.
God has not been good to you,
these past 10 years. I wish
there was more I could do.

I'll love you forever,
deep in my heart,
though we won't be
together, when Death do us part.

I love you, Ellie.

Here I sit. Depressed,
alone now, I am moping.
Be nice to find a solution,
I will always be hoping.

An interesting thing
when you lose hope
or the grasp on reality,
when trying to cope.

Coping, a word of
simplicity about
dealing with a loss
when you want to shout.

I know there is not
any hope, in this case,
you must not give in,
to this memory erase.

The sadness and lack
of being able to assist,
in resolving this plight,
I must continue to resist.

Life will go on
has been said to me.
Life will go on
but not for she.

Long the Ship

Long the ship,
lay at anchor,
in the foreign port,
alongside Buoy 17.

It would soon be
time for the water
taxis to bring,
passengers and
crew members,
to board the
ship and leave
port for a
destination, yet
unknown.

Who would
sign up for a
cruise to an
unknown
destination?

What incentives
must there be
to entice a person
to embark on
an adventure to
an unknown
destination?
Who indeed?

(to be continued.)

In the Navy

Left is port,
Right is starboard,
with mid-ship in between.

Aft is the ships rear,
also known as the stern.
Forward is the bow,
or front end of a ship.

Stairs are called ladders,
and never the twain will meet.
Doors are called hatches,
The windows are round and called Ports.

Dungarees are a Navy term for
real, baggy jeans, which
you roll up when swabbing
the deck or floor.

Chipping paint, continually,
brushing, priming with red
lead followed by USN
Battleship Grey.

This is done because you
do not want coats of paint
when fire occurs. For paint
will burn, like no other.

I Wish

I wish I had enough money to fund
every request I receive from all these
great organizations, but I don't.
Is this the best way to fund research
for Cancer, Alzheimer, Birth defects,
research. There are many organizations
who are very deserving of funds, but
these pockets are not deep, and I cannot
fund them.
What has this World come to?

A Long Drink of Water

A long drink of water,
in her fashionable jeans.
A sparkling smile,
promising many dreams.

I greeted her warmly,
as I would always do,
when she looked at me,
saying, "What's the matter with you?"

I replied, "Nothing is wrong,
for I've been waiting for you,
as I've heard of all the
goods which you do>"

She looked me,
with the bluest of eyes,
leave me now,
for you I despise.

You are an old fool,
I know it is true,
for your old like,
my grandfather, goodbye, adieu.
