Her raven hair,
now beautiful grey,
moves me to tears,
when I hear her say,
"Who are you?"
"Why are you here?"
"Have we met before?"
quote my wife of 65 years.

Crimson the sky,
smoke of fire,
ash in the air,
stokes my desire,
to be alone,
thinking of you.

Searching for something to change my thoughts to those more pleasant.

Bright the water,
crystal and clear,
as current passes.
Work is done.
Long will
I love you,
until our destiny
has come.

I've loved you forever,
it's what you
should know.
It matters not,
if you no longer
love me, as
your memory, or
our life together,
disappears into
the night.
It only matters
for me to know.

Long waved the Willows
from the summer wind.
Leaves, rattled softly,
a trailing breeze,
soft on the shoulders
of my true love.

Remembering the days
my beloved
began to die.
Her memories ae
fading away.
Today she
told me,
"Somethings wrong."
The first time
she recognized,
the illness.
Not by name,
but she couldn't
our oldest son
who had visited
us an hour ago.
She declared,
"there's something
wrong with me."
It was painful
to me, seeing
her like that.

Would you care
if I went away
and never wrote
another day?

From dusk to dawn,
searching for you
and your bright smile,
for this I pray.
I will find you soon,
if not this day.

Darkness crept in
under the trees.
Easterly came
a Summer breeze.
Crawled I
slowly between
the limbs.
I was unseen.

I must confess
to my current
state of mind.
Lack of motivation.
Lack of creativity.
Thoughtless.

Her face, lined
with wrinkles
from dread.
Thinking about
all of
the years,
lying ahead.
What to
do when
the love
of your
life has
Dementia. She
will forget
you soon,
not know
your name
or recall
all of
your memories
of life
you spent
together, as
a couple.
