Shadows
• 11/15/21 at 10:36PM •The shadows grow long,
as daylight disappears,
for the days are shorter
this time of the year.
The Sun sets with a whimper,
on this clearest night
as darkness falls
and the cold takes its bite.
Retired for many years and now re-discovering some writings, from long ago, along with new endeavor to help save my soul.
The shadows grow long,
as daylight disappears,
for the days are shorter
this time of the year.
The Sun sets with a whimper,
on this clearest night
as darkness falls
and the cold takes its bite.
Will you stand by my side,
for this long, lifetime ride,
as we go down the path,
taking stride after stride?
We're in a cabin,
deep in the woods.
The fire is dying,
some embers are bright,
perhaps they will last
through the chilly night.
I hear an Owl hoot,
from someplace nearby.
The sound it makes
is more like a cry.
more night sounds,
the creak of new wood,
as the cold and heat
shrinks it, as it should.
There is a new sound
of silence, you can hear,
others now breathing.
I catch my self,
as I have a big yawn.
Back to sleep now,
it's close to the Dawn.
I have lost track of the hours,
on my trek to the Sun
and will continue my journey,
alone; not together, just one.
Be still my heart,
the old man cried.
Bring forth the memories
I thought were gone.
Re-kindle this life,
with the dreams last.
Show the way. Escape the night,
past all the moon light rays.
Being all there is
the end of all days.
I wish that my mind
was like a gold laden mine
and I could be transported,
back in to the time,
where many old friends,
were still here to see
and exchange our greetings,
from here to all of thee.
Write of the words
which come to light,
during morning hours
or when late at night.
Words all jumbled
within my aged head,
which want to escape
and be written or said.
Words like, "I love you"
said in many ways,
to carry us through
our vanishing days.
Tell the people
you love them, you'll see,
this love for others
is a renewable commodity.
There are song lyrics,
real or pretend,
"Oh Lord please,
send me a Mercedes Benz."
I'm certain God doesn't
work in this way
but I'll still try, my Lord,
please won't you send me,
a new Bronco, from Ford?
How many loves
can you have
in one's life?
To have feelings
for others is,
good for your Soul.
Caring for others,
who have become
your close friends.
Is it wrong
to love others,
in this magical way
or just a pretending
at which we play?
I wish I knew
the answer, I do,
but it wouldn't change
what I like about you.
I love the smell
of hot bees wax,
at the Rooster Bakery,
which is also a winery.
The owner was doing
his signature move
for his latest wine bottling.
Dipping the neck of
the bottle of wine,
into the hot bees wax,
provides a seal
and an aroma
of great appeal.
All word of mouth,
but the favored wines
are as good as any
I have tasted.
A tip! He also makes
many different flavored
brandies. A favorite, is Pear.
They are open for tasting,
you really should try
them. My favorite wine
is the Merlot.
It's always worth a stop
if your in Woodinville.
Will you love me tomorrow,
when I've gone my way?
Or will I soon be forgotten,
all memories gone from here,
as the light in my Soul,
until the flame dies?
Be the light
not the darkness,
in this life we live.
There will be a tomorrow;
Another chance to succeed.
