A Memory Lost
A memory lost,
a memory gained,
a memory made,
but not retained.
A memory lost,
a memory past.
No longer here,
it couldn't last.
Retired for many years and now re-discovering some writings, from long ago, along with new endeavor to help save my soul.
A memory lost,
a memory gained,
a memory made,
but not retained.
A memory lost,
a memory past.
No longer here,
it couldn't last.
I dread
the end
is near,
as she
still fights
a tear.
I'm closer
right now
then I've
ever been.
So alive
is she,
with me.
I strive
to be
her strength,
for all
to see.
I plead
do not
leave me.
Love must be gone from here.
No touching or feeling with hands.
No consoling or hearing a request,
when hearing others soft demands.
I love my wife,
as I may.
I love her more
every day.
She is slowly
fading away.
Near to her,
I must stay.
Sands of time,
an array,
won't obey,
the memory loss,
day to day.
I must hang on,
for I can't say,
when I'll be gone,
gone far away.
The bell tolls,
end of time,
an active life,
now in decline.
A new, self-appointed
President stepped forward
today to announce that we
we're closing down, due to
the Fire Alarm drill. Everyone
could go home and we would
all be paid for a full day.
News to me. I didn't realize
I was an employee, but
nothing surprises me anymore.
I find deceit
to be intolerable,
no matter the reason,
no matter the why.
Fate stopped by
to say hello.
Said she had
many stops to go.
Your name came up,
as she said,
"I'll visit tomorrow,
don't be in bed."
Came the morrow,
true to her word,
she brought Fate.
Know what I heard?
One more day at the zoo,
a place with characters,
much more than two.
Three males live here,
two residents of memory care.
I live with my wife, in memory care,
although I am considered an Independent.
Supposedly, I do not need assistance,
but that is another story.
Yesterday, there was an altercation,
with one gentleman being pushed down
on the floor. I didn't see the actual beginning
but did see the last shove to the ground.
Fortunately, no one was injured and
bruised EGOs recovered, due to the
memory issues of other residents.
A small excitement in the daily life
of singing songs, painting pictures
and interesting discussions with
some of the residents and staff.
The staff should be commended for
the prompt action taken to resolve
the solution. They do not get paid
enough for the verbal abuse they take,
from some residents. Fortunately,
most residents are well behaved.
Light bounces
off the glass,
bringing heat
to those
who pass.
A life's paradox.
A dream unkept.
Now the sadness,
of tears wept.
Life's love journey,
lost in time
when disease
becomes the mime.
Abut the morning shadow,
sunlight streaks the edge,
as straws of moisture rise
in cold, cold Fall air.
