I hear a noise,
most welcoming to me,
the sounds of seagulls,
and crashing waves from the sea.

I imagine the smell,
of spray from the sea,
to this beautiful site,
on the sand where I'll be.

To walk on wet sand,
barefooted, I suppose,
at a relaxing place,
which everyone knows.

How do you mend a broken heart,
which lies a shatter?
When all the efforts fall on
deaf ears. Nothing will matter.

Water runs deep,
and it runs cold.
Funny how life changes,
as we get old.

No more the Spring,
no more the view.
Why can't I stop,
looking at you.

Sitting by your bed,
a perfect view,
to be close again.
What else can I do?

How cold is my heart,
when I walk away,
after seeing you sleeping,
when visiting day after day?

My love for this woman,
so precious to me,
continues to grow stronger,

Long were the hours,

A parade of lost souls
happening daily in memory care.

I've met many residents,
each with their own flaw.
Just a few arguments
from an old Ma and Pa.

Many can't function,
with the basic life need.
Some can function
others you must feed.

Soft flows the water,
so clear and blue.
It's shimmering image,
reminds me of you.

What I must do,
to stay happy today,
is to find a new path,
doing it my own way.

I wish I knew.
I will not start my journey
While I am living with you.

These words tug at my heart
for I am missing you so.
I know you will leave me,

I am fortunate
and a very lucky man,
to have all the friends,
who care about me.

My nose starts running,

A surprise to me,
was that reply,
for you had stopped speaking
and I was wondering why.

What has happened
to life?
Why does it have to be
my wife?

She is a good person,
much better than I.
Why are you taking her?
Why not I?

I visited my wife again today.
The Care Givers, had taken her
to her room and placed her in bed.

There was no recognition of me.
No beautiful smile. Just a simple,
"Who are you?"
I sat and held her hand.

My eyes tend to seep tears when
I sit with her. I think how close
we are both on the final journey.
