When day is done and time for bed,
May I rest my weary head,
On your breast, to reflect, about today?
When in the moment, I can't say,
If the good thought, will still stay
Or simply, so simply, just vanish away.
When thoughts of yours, disappear from view,
I will still treasure, memories of you.

Don't weep for tomorrow
With memories, from the past,
For no matter, what you do,
Those thoughts, seldom last,
For we must push on,
Through pain and deepest sorrow,
If we are to have
A happier day, on the morrow.

You come to me, in vivid color,
But I only see, in black and white.
You say that you love me dearly,
I admit, that is hard to see.
I know that is not your problem
And the problem does start with me.

The easiest thing to do
Is simply, run away.
I cannot do that, I replied,
As that is not my way.

The call came, from far and wide.
Do not watch, the evening tide,
For those, who, do decide,
Will not go back, to be inside.
Captured by the moonlit side
Of surfs, sweet sound to deride,
Nevermore, for eyes of wide
And so to you, who must provide,
Shelter to all those, still outside.

I will write, songs of love
About you and me,
Thinking of heaven above
And my love for thee.
Someday, when time is there,
To revel in the past,
I will remember, your silver hair,
And how our marriage, did last.
Sixty years, is a long time,
For a union, such as ours.
It was never as sublime,
For it had it's bad time too,
And so I'll try to put to rhyme,
My words of love, for you.

Where are you, my love?
Why have you gone away?
Has your mind taken you,
To someplace you can play?
I know, these past few years
Have been, so hard, every single day
And every night, I do pray,
That your health will improve
And yet you worsen every day.

In the darkest hour
Of this long and dreary night,
Will I think about you
And want to hold you tight?

If I win this game today,
Must you also lose to I?
For we cannot play this way
And give up without a try.
Can you hear the words I say,
That desires to be free?
Oh, come now, you silly one,
Who chases life, this day,
So un-relentlessly .

I love you so, my little one
And hope that you, will soon agree.
So many days and years are done;
My wish is to stay near, thee.

To rhyme again, is not a crime,
Unless of course, it's one of mine.

There were times, not so long ago
When bells would ring, a mellow tone
And birds would sing, their sweet refrain.
Flowers blooms poked up, from the ground,
Without any utterance or nary a sound,
Of love.
