Peasants' Revolt in England: The Peasants' Revolt, a major uprising against high taxes and social injustice, culminates in a confrontation between rebel forces and King Richard II at Smithfield in London.

Joan of Arc, the peasant girl daughter of a tenant farmer at Domremy, who led the French army to victory over England at Orleans during the Hundred Years' War, was burned at the stake for heresy by an English-dominated tribunal in Rouen. More

1806 CE, May 30

Future US President Andrew Jackson fatally shoots Charles Dickinson, American attorney and slave trader in a duel. An expert marksman, Dickinson fired the first shot, wounding Jackson in the chest. Despite this, Jackson managed to shoot and mortally wound Dickinson. Jackson recovered from his physical injuries but the bullet had lodged to close to his heart and could not be safely removed, so Jackson carried the bullet in his chest for the rest of his life. More

1922 CE, May 30

Warren G. Harding became the first U.S. President to broadcast a message over the radio as hisvoice was first heard on radio during a speech at the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial. He went on to do it again on June 14, 1922 while speaking at the dedication of a memorial to Francis Scott Key in Baltimore and again on December 8, 1922 when his Annual Address to Congress (now known as the State of the Union) was jointly broadcast by Naval radio stations NOF and NAA.

1922 CE, May 30

The Lincoln Memorial is dedicated in Washington DC in front of an audience of over 50,000 people. The ceremony was broadcasted across the nation through the then new medium of radio. The Dedication address on behalf of the government was given by US President Warren G. Harding. More

1971 CE, May 30

The US space probe Mariner 9 is launched toward Mars, becoming the first spacecraft to orbit another planet. More
