I tire of talking to a Memory Care Resident.
He is always talking to many who cannot
understand or carry on a conversation.
He is demanding of attention, yet won't
sit still to complete an activity.

Initially he irritated me with his constant
complaining. I told him to leave the others
alone and to please don't intrude when I am
sitting with my wife who will awake at random
to say a few words.

Now for some reason, I am his best friend.
He will poke me on the leg if I am not
looking at him.
He must some kind of plan. I know not what
it is, as he keeps reminding me that he will
help me. Hopefully, he will not recall any
conversation he had with me.
I see new residents coming into the facility
in Memory care. There is a sadness I see.

What is the effect between,
two people, which contributes
to this wonderful phenomenon?

For whom the bell tolls.
it tolls for thee,
as death approaches,
your soul will be set free.

These simple words,
describing an end to life.
All the love and emotions,
will never more be,
for when the bell tolls,
it will be for thee.

An end to life,
the sound of a bell,
is death of a life,
hopefully lived well.

Of dragon tails
and eye of newt.
Herbs mashed,
by hand, not foot.

Those old days, long ago,
remembering when,
they were the days,
our lives began.

Fairy tales and fables, many,
were told besides fires, bon.
These tales and words,
no longer, now gone.

Think of happy days,
of happy events, not timeline,
long may they live in
memories of yours and mine.

These are our stories,
to tell at night,
full of memories,
of our own delight.

I must keep walking,
as long as I can.
If I'm confined to a chair
I'll be less than a man.

I know that's not true,
I certainly do.
I know how I feel,
uncertain about you.

Lifes challenges, as we go
through many doorways,
down those uncertain paths,
leads us to our future.
Remember you can always
change your path and directions.

I choose not to live
my life vicariously,
due to the actions
of others.

It's my life, my choice
to do what I wish
within reason,
with or without,
criticism or approval,
of others.

Please don't tell me
how to live,
for my love is
mine to give.

I appreciate
all you do,
but, come on,
it's about you.

Let me be where
I am alone.
If I need you
I'll text or phone.

Thanking you for
your friendship, thine,
are loved my me
and in my mind.

How far the reach,
if justice will demand,
you accept responsibility,
for all your deeds.

Be quiet now,
your fickle heart,
sharing your love
with another soul.

You must decide,
who to choose
or you may,
your love, lose.

Hang a tooth,
from a Dragon, slain,
around thy neck,
easing the pain.

Fail not, in
your quest to be,
when travelling,
over land and sea.

Remember to erase,
life's sad sorrow,
bringing forth memories,
for a new tomorrow.
