I Understand
• 11/19/20 at 11:22PM •I understand the urgency
and know of the rush,
but you are harming small business
applying rules with a broad brush
Retired for many years and now re-discovering some writings, from long ago, along with new endeavor to help save my soul.
I understand the urgency
and know of the rush,
but you are harming small business
applying rules with a broad brush
The barn sat back from the road,
surrounded by pasture; there was no abode.
The weathered boards had once been red
but are now mottled; old boards from a shed.
What mystery stands there by the tree?
What's the history of this building I see?
What do you know
of this life of ours?
Can you discern meaning
by viewing the Stars?
There is no Seer to see;
it all depends on you and me.
Happy the thoughts
On this wonderful day.
Please be calm now,
Especially in this way.
Fear not the morrow.
Use the talent you have
Love you don't borrow
Read the first letter in each line, please.
Can you help me?
Can you help me, please?
Must I go to the ground
and get down on my knees?
For I need help, from someone kind,
as I search for relief
from this life, which I live,
with my old, old brain
so much like a sieve.
The bloom of the Rose
is gone, not here any more.
No more the color,
only the dryness; the remains
of what was a beautiful,
example in this garden, ours.
Don't tell me to hide in a hole.
Don't tell me it's for my own good.
Don't tell me it will make my life whole
I've lived a long life; it's understood.
Our ship was tied up to a
buoy in a lagoon of South Pacific Isle.
My shipmates and I had been
ashore. There were no commercial
boats for transportation. We had
specific departures scheduled
using our whale boat.
Larger ships had a "Captain's Barge.
Not us. Our was a whale boat.
A great time ashore but returning
to our ship, to our bunks and a hot
meal was in store. I recall
the trip once more.
Hey there good looking,
would you like to dance?
Those questions are gone;
won't be given a chance.
Dancing is not allowed
during the modern romance.
The lines are not many,
they are just a few.
So what is a prolific
writer to do?
You made your first comment
on December 24, 2017, day.
"Beautiful and profound" you did say.
I write this small verse and
pray your life is better,
when you receive this short letter.
The goodness you have in your voice
is a selection you make; your choice.
It pleases me when I see words from you
for you were the first to give me a review.
Love to you and yours, Amy
If you like what I write,
it is OK to comment, I say,
just write out your words,
don't run away.
