I Am
• 11/11/20 at 11:19PM •I am going to work hard
to really try
being better to you;
not asking why.
I must stay close
by your side,
for the remaining time
of this ugly ride.
Retired for many years and now re-discovering some writings, from long ago, along with new endeavor to help save my soul.
I am going to work hard
to really try
being better to you;
not asking why.
I must stay close
by your side,
for the remaining time
of this ugly ride.
It is now 5 am,
which is all I will say.
My time for some sleep
has eroded away.
Do you not understand?
Can you not see,
How much I need you,
To stay here with me?
Life is too short,
so is the day,
when the night falls
and love slips away.
I look at the towel bar
on the bathroom wall,
realizing it isn't level;
not level at all.
A sip of brandy,
a beer and wine,
will tide me over,
until the Sunrise.
I normally don't drink a lot
but these days
are challenging my resolve,
to keep fighting
the good cause,
for that is all I've got.
A sip of grape brandy,
when starting the day,
will get the juices flowing,
it is what they all say.
The road is wide
toward the bend,
traveling towards,
our journey's end.
The days are short,
the nights are long.
We use our breath
to sing a song.
Good golly, ms Molly
comes to mind
and the future is better,
for all of mankind.
Driving in snow, is such a thrill,
except when you travel down hill.
Apply your brakes gently, or instead
your car becomes a 4 wheel sled.
Writing my words
for all you to read,
is great, especially for me.
It is the best therapy
and is what I need.
I sincerely hope, what you read
helps provide interest,
when the words do succeed.
Early in this life it was heartache.
Here we are now; it is heart break.
It isn't funny, for I now see,
You always were the best part of me.
When the cold, black, stillness of night,
slowly begins to ebb and to wane,
as the bright rays from the Sun,
push slowly through the window pane.
I awake slowly to a new light,
of a brand new, most wonderful day,
then I notice you've gone away.
Your body is still here with me,
but your mind has escaped and is free.
You will soon awake; there I'll be
to help you; you will see.
There was a time,
There was a place,
When every night,
I'd see your face.
A face of pure
Beauty to see,
from now
to eternity.
A face to launch
One thousand ships,
To save the World,
From one so far,
Who had no love,
From which to choose,
Just the fate of others,
The World to lose.
