A cat, a canary,
and vagabond flea,
decided to travel,
the world to see.

Boarding a ship,
sailing to be,
flea on the cat,
the canary free,

First leg complete,
as related to me,
a tropical port,
many adventures to be.

Off to the zoo,
admission was free.
Cages were sad,
a sad sight to see.

Why aren't these,
cages open to thee?
Open the cages,
let them roam free.

Using my old
rule of thumb,
finding this writing,
puzzling and dumb.

Broad were the smiles,
yesterday, in memory care,
as a few dogs were present,
for residents to pet and share.

When the light in her eyes,
has faded and gone,
I will still love her,
when I'm all alone.

Hoping that day, never comes,
I will stay strong as I can,
trying to understand,
my weakness, as a man.

Why is our life,
so troubled, this way?
Has God abandoned us,
and will take her away.

Alongside the river
of love and desire,
my heart is strong,
my soul is a pyre.

I love others,
as I want to do,
for there is no one
as lovely as you.

I'll write of tomorrow,
when day is done,
as evening draws nigh
with the setting sun.

Every day a new adventure,
in this life of mine.
One more task to do
and the day will be fine.

A teardrop formed,
in the corner of my eye.
No special reason,
just needed to cry.

Cry about my love
who the battle is losing.
The fight to retain her
memory, is not her choosing.

Alongside the river,
with its water flowing free,
find me a sunny spot,
it's where I want to be.

Alone, with my thoughts,
which matter to me.
To relax and nap,
setting my mind free.

Why does it matter,
what reason there be?
A secluded spot,
allows me to think of she.

As I write these words,
thinking of days gone by,
my emotional response,
to breakdown and cry.

An icy branch,
snow on the ground,
silence is golden,
muffling the sound.

A silver lining exists,
in your soul, Deep
within lies a love,
everyone wants to keep.

Why, when I see,
your eyes of blue,
I wish to talk and
be a friend to you.

Wandering through,
the halls of life,
searching, ever searching,
for my wife.

Lost memories,
well in hand,
times were good
and life was grand.

No longer to
share with she,
only her memories
are with me.

A Crow and Owl
went to school,
to learn of nature
and to clarify a rule.

Hoot, said the Owl,
when do we begin?
Caw, said the Crow,
I'm smarter, you can't win.

The Owl said, I fly,
by day but mostly night
when crows are asleep
and out of sight.

The Crow said nothing then,
but mumbled, ah shoot,
I'm letting you know,
I don't give a hoot.

No more verse,
which I can write.
Words are cheap,
my brain is tight.

Words were free
and very loose.
Now my neck
is in a noose.

Thoughts which moved,
like a water flow,
my brain says maybe,
my hand says, No.

My heart is strong,
don't wish to boast,
but for me,
my life is toast.
