A Time

One time, long ago,
when I was much younger,
I fell in love.
There was no euphoria,
no bells ringing
or any of the other,
literal takings,
but simply, a warm
feeling of trust and comfort.

Growing older, trust and
jealousy became mixed,
while comfort became
a habit, as
taking someone for granted.

This realization. was long
in coming, for I was blind
and unwilling to reason.
I have changed for the
better, now.

Candles

Candles burning brightly,
forming circles on the ground,
flickering, lying quietly,
making not a sound,
like a bent blade of grass,
covered with dew.

Ceremonies of darkness,
casting its certain spell.
What is it that you saw,
that you knew so well?

Gone are the days,
gone from your mind,
of seeing or believing
or of trying hard to find.
A place where you can be,
alone when you would like,
some peace of mind.

Beside Me

Won't you lie down beside me
and tell me all you know,
about your dreams and wishes
and where you'd like to go.

Let me lie beside you
and I'll talk to you of love
and all the wondrous beauty
that shines from up above.

Let me fill your ears with laughter,
watch the love spill from my eyes,
as I caress you, oh so gently,
enraptured by your sighs.

Loving

Loving you is easy,
it isn't hard to do.
The softness of your
laughter,
the color of your eyes,
your kind and gracious
comments
and soft receptive ear,
means more to me,
than I can say
or that you may
wish to hear.
You walk among
the shadows,
of loves I've known
before
and brighten
my dreary day,
while pushing away
the clouds of unhappiness,
by smiling.
