Can You

Can you love another,
as if she is your mother?
Someone I know, younger than I
gives me cookies, cake
and other food stuff.
She gives me no reason
for her words are few.
I sometimes feel like an adopted child
and my thoughts are very mild.
It's not romantic, in anyway,
but the way I am treated; I'll say
"Love the attention, at any age,
especially when treated
like an ancient, old Sage.
