Hellish landscapes and Rants;  "Whatever has caused it, Trump seems utterly off his pins, embracing wild conspiracy theories and, as his hopes of winning the election appear to be crumbling, threatening vengeance with a dogged fury that he used to be able to hide."  More at Letters from an American

I do not like
the things I see.
I do not like them,
for even me.

They are spiteful,
in their respective pose,
and it's their opinion,
like having a nose.

We all have noses.
While it is the truth,
they all are different.
Do you need proof?

Vote for the one,
who will protect your right,
instead of a misogynous,
who is a coward, who won't fight.

"Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has expressed his intention, if elected to a second term, to use the U.S. armed forces to suppress domestic protests. The New York Times reports that Trump’s allies are marshaling legal arguments to justify using National Guard or active-duty military troops for crowd control." More at The Conversation ➜

"Over the past four years, Congress and state governments have worked hard to prevent the aftermath of the 2024 election from descending into the chaos and threats to democracy that occurred around the 2020 U.S. presidential election" ....and  "Technology experts are working to confront misinformation campaigns and vulnerabilities in election systems. But untouched in all of these improvements is the underlying structure of presidential elections – the Electoral College.

"Scientific theory has had a rough time in America’s public schools...... Over the past few decades, conservative or religious groups that object to including the theory of evolution in science classes have tried a different approach. Now, they argue, if the “scientific” theory of evolution is taught, other views, such as “intelligent design” – a stand-in for creationism – should also be taught"  More at The Conversation ➜

A Jabberwocky, is a bird,
of mystical origins.
Do you support it in your head,
if we think without precision?

What happens now,
to all of us,
if we don't love our way?
A short ride under the bus,

and you will see,
the end of the USA.
It's not up to those in power,
to take our freedom away,

Complacency, will do that,
in every single way.
Stand up America,
God Bless the USA.

Indeed - vote!!!

Americans’ views on free speech change directions every so often. One of those times was during the protests at U.S. universities about the Israel-Hamas war. As scholars of free speech and public opinion, we set out to find out what happened and why. More at The Conversation ➜

When idiocy, reigns supreme,
it's not a breath of Spring.
It's the gasping for air,
when they take away everything.

You may not believe this, but
I know it is true,
the only losers we will have,
is you, you and you.

Wake up America!
This is your land,
others will take your freedom.
I hope you understand.

What happens tomorrow,
when we open up the door,
and find our beloved country,
isn't here, anymore?

Walking through, the day of now,
searching for yesterday,
when I came upon tomorrow,
in a most peculiar way.

There will be no future,
if you don't recognize today,
while clearing your head,
and walking away.

There are too many actions,
of which we won't say,
better get out to vote,
if you will want your way.

If you become complacent,
ignoring facts today,
your freedom will leave,
and will walk away.

"The ability to teach and conduct research free from political interference is the cornerstone of higher education and its contribution to the public good. Academic freedom, however, has become increasingly threatened" More at The Conversation ➜

"I went to apply for my State Park Annual Permit yesterday, what used to be free to us citizens, but now costs us taxpayers because the State doesn’t have enough tax dollars for what it used to have enough for so the budget needs to be balanced. Now the poor can pay what the guy launching his 25 foot Bayliner pays for a permit, same way he does at the gas station for the gas tax, same as he does at the drug store, same as he does just about everywhere he buys something. This is what we call Recessive Taxation. No breaks for the indigent. You know, folks we now refer to as Takers...... More at The Skeeter Daddle Diaries ➜
