It started with an ember,
a small, red glow,
enmeshed in the tinder,
flames beginning to grow.
Dry brush, under trees,
a kindling awaiting heat,
to stoke the flame, on wood,
the fire wants to eat.
It's started now, in forests
across the state of ours,
and will end in loss of lives,
after men work, hours and hours.
