Is This Now the Time

Is this now the time
to flee to the sky,
on gossamer wings?
Important to do,
much harder to say,
when changes are made,
to benefit all,
in the care to be received.
Why do I feel,
I have failed my vows
and deserted my wife.
"It's all for the better",
someone will state.
I know this is true.
It had to happen,
of this, there's no doubt.
Why am I not ecstatic,
being by her side,
in a memory unit,
I'm just along for the ride.
