Cueva de las Manos (Spanish for Cave of Hands) Located in the Valley of the Pinturas River, province of Santa CruzArgentina, The art in the cave dates from 13,000 to 9,000 years ago. Leque Island is located between the city of Stanwood and Camano Island, WA. The area is going through a process of restoration. Water from Skagit and Port Susan bays and the Stillaguamish River flowed into Leque Island for the first time in 100 years on Oct. 14, 2019 - opening 250 acres to the tide, young salmon and crab.The natural marsh vegetation will slowly return to tidal marshland as it reseeds with natural vegetation. This Iconic photo of six United States Marines raising the U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima was taken 75 years ago today.  It was later used for the construction of the Marine Corps War Memorial located in Arlington Ridge Park in 1954
