At the 34th Annual Festival of Balloons in Tigard, the hot air balloons are the main attraction, but it's much more than just balloons - it's a celebration of community!

Every year, more than 15,000 spectators arrive at Tigard's beautiful Cook Park early each morning to experience the amazing sight of 20+ hot air balloons launching into the morning sky! Crowds spend the afternoon shopping at the craft vendor booths, daring the rides at the Funtastic carnival, rooting for their teams in the youth soccer tournament, and enjoying live music and entertainment for all ages.

Of course it wouldn't be the Festival of Balloons without the ever impressive night glow on Friday and Saturday nights (illuminated hot air balloons), the Rogue Ales Beer Garden, Twilight Run on Saturday night, and Landmark Ford Festival of Cars on Sunday.

Portland International Beerfest is a 3-day specialty beer festival held in the Pearl District North Park Blocks. We showcase hard-to-find beers and ciders from across the globe...from old world classics to new world exotics. Sample everything from classic styles (pilsners, pales, etc.) to exotic new-world hybrids (barrel-aged hoppy farmhouse sours, etc.). Killer food and special pouring events all weekend. But most of all, DO NOT MISS the Beerfest Bike Pie Joust on Sat at 3pm! Pet Friendly!

Come celebrate World Giraffe Day at the zoo.

World Giraffe Day is an annual event started by the Giraffe Conservation Foundation as a way to celebrate the longest-necked animal on the longest day or night (depending on which hemisphere you call home) of the year every year!

It's a great reason to celebrate these tall, beautiful animals, as well as an excuse to support them and create awareness about the challenges they face in the wild.

Spend today at the zoo as we mark the occasion along with schools, nonprofits, conservation organizations and other zoos around the globe. Help us raise awareness and support for giraffes, and learn what small actions humans can take to help them thrive.

World Giraffe Day at the Oregon Zoo will feature keeper talks, giraffe-based activities, crafts, tattoos, photo ops and other fun stuff. Come learn about the world's tallest animal on the longest day of the year.

Enjoy a summer night of baseball as the Portland Pickles face the Gresham GreyWolves. We want to fill the stands at beautiful Walker Stadium in Lents Park with friends and fans of Pink Phoenix for this special Breast Cancer Awareness Night, sponsored by our friends at Compass Oncology.

Buy a $10 ticket from Pink Phoenix before May 1 and the Pickles return HALF of the ticket price to Pink Phoenix. Thank you for making your purchase this month!

We love the team's generosity and their mascot, Dillon (call me "Dill") Pickle. Bring your wallet for the 50/50 raffle and plan to bid on one or more of the the players' pink uniforms. Raffle and auction proceeds are going to your favorite Breast Cancer Survivor (BCS) dragon boat team, Pink Phoenix.

The Portland Pickles are a collegiate wood bat baseball team founded in 2015. The Pickles are a member of the West Coast League. Pickles baseball prides itself on presenting an affordable family atmosphere as well as its community involvement.

Check out the rest of their schedule at portlandpicklesbaseball.com.

Join us at the zoo for Twilight Tuesdays and enjoy reduced admission

Where can you go to eat dinner outdoors, sample local beers, listen to live music and let your kids run around or try crafty activities—all while hanging out with crepuscular creatures like lions, tigers and bears? The Oregon Zoo has set aside three summer evenings when families, coworkers, groups of friends or dates can come and enjoy everything the zoo has to offer (and more) from 5 to 8 p.m. for just $5 a ticket.

Twilight Tuesdays offer guests the chance to experience the magic of summer evenings at the zoo for a reduced admission price. In addition to all the zoo usually has to offer, Twilight Tuesdays will also include live music, family activities and games, extra food carts and local beer and wine.

On Tuesday, June 19th, 15% of sales all day at the Hollywood Laughing Planet Cafe will be donated to Hollywood Farmers Market's SNAP Match program!

SNAP Match began with a simple idea: that everyone deserves access to fresh, local produce from their neighborhood farmers market. With this in mind, we created a program in 2010 that would increase the spending power of shoppers using SNAP benefits (the program formerly known as food stamps).

Every time someone receiving SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) shops at the Hollywood Farmers Market, our SNAP match fund gives them an extra $10 to spend on fruits and vegetables. That means more food in the pantry. That means more sales for our family farmers. And it means a healthier community.

So dine out at the Hollywood Laughing Planet Cafe on Tuesday, June 19th to support food security in our NE Portland neighborhoods!

Join the Rose City Gay Freedom Bands (RCGFB) and Geeks who Drink for an all out trivia contest! Bring your teammates, join a team there, or play as an individual. There is a $5/person suggested donation. $5/team goes into a prize pot that the winning team can keep or donation to RCGFB! There will also be prizes from the Mission Theater. Trivia will be standard trivia topics from the Geeks who Drink team.

Located across from the Beaverton Library in the heart of downtown Beaverton, the Beaverton Farmers market is a destination market. During the summer season, the market averages between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors on any given Saturday. The market is comprised of nursery growers, farmers, and ranchers - both conventional and organic. Artisan food producers offer prepared products, ranging from fruit jams to farmstead cheeses, breads and pastries, pickles, pasta, chocolate, and more.
