I took this picture of the Christina creek at Rittenhouse Park in Newark, Delaware with my cell phone camera. I climbed out over some sketchy moss and mud covered rocks to get to the middle of the creek for this shot. I need to go back there with hip waders. Not much online about this park but I've read that a 100 or so years ago (probably longer) a lady named Mrs. Rittenhouse owned all this land and she had this creek shored up and widened, paths laid and trees planted. The beech, river birch and certain oaks retain some of their leaves in the winter and everything in the woods is shades or gold, copper and bronze. Then you look towards the creek and, if it's not windy, you see the sky. Both banks are lined with thick tangled masses of exposed tree roots. The trees all bending and bowing towards the water.
