NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day:

Taken on mission sol 180 (August 22) this sharp image from a Hazard Camera on the Perseverance rover looks out across a rock strewn floor of Jezero crater on Mars. At 52.5 centimeters (21 inches) in diameter, one of the rover's steerable front wheels is at lower left in the frame. Near center is a large rock nicknamed Rochette. Mission planners don't want to avoid Rochette though. Instead Perseverance will be instructed to reach out with its 2 meter long robotic arm and abrade the rock's surface, to determine whether it has a consistency suitable for obtaining a sample, slightly thicker than a pencil, using the rover's coring bit. Samples collected by Perseverance would be returned to Earth by a future Mars mission.

I walked with you,
in our better days.
I talked to you,
about many things.
I speak to you,
my heart sings.
I share with you,
my love this day.
I think of you,
your mind, gone away.
I love you now
and will every day.

Beautiful poems. And sad too. I’m glad you had a good life to write about 💕

Thank you Loy. I also am happy we had a good life together.

The sharp edge of fear,
stroked the back of her hair.
It covered her body,
with angst and despair.
She cannot reason
or think for herself,
although there are moments,
I see the old you,
in many actions taken
and then it ends, like
turning off the "proverbial switch".
What happened to logic?
It is no longer in play,
as we move quickly towards
another lost day.

NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day:

Like an illustration in a galactic Just So Story, the Elephant's Trunk Nebula winds through the emission nebula and young star cluster complex IC 1396, in the high and far off constellation of Cepheus. Also known as vdB 142, seen on the left the cosmic elephant's trunk is over 20 light-years long. Removed by digital processing, no visible stars are in this detailed telescopic close-up view highlighting the bright swept-back ridges that outline pockets of cool interstellar dust and gas. But the dark, tendril-shaped clouds contain the raw material for star formation and hide protostars within. Nearly 3,000 light-years distant, the relatively faint IC 1396 comple

Plow the land,
create the furrow;
making lines straight;
straight as an arrow.
Make the rows broad,
the right size to walk.
Visit your neighbor
about crops; you talk.
Till the good earth,
which is God's plan.
Provide the World food,
the way you can.

Nice poem. Such hard work, and heartbreaking during drought conditions.

I hear the thunder.
Lighting blinds my eyes.
A Summer storm,
can be a huge surprise,
working at the golf course
the entire day
when a Clap of thunder,
came to our location.
The wind began blowing,
the rain coming sideways.
We had many on the course
when management suspended play.
All of the Marshals
who were working that day,
drove around the course
to help the customers back
to the Clubhouse.
We were successful as
there were no injuries.
All customers were given
credit for a future round.
