Are you ready? Worldwide, strong earthquakes happen more than once per month. In the event of the "Big One" occurring in the Cascadia Fault, some of what will happen on Camano Island could be:

1. 3-5 minutes of shaking at magnitude 8.5-9.

2 possible2. 11 large aftershocks, 1 at magnitude 8+ and 10 at magnitude 7-8.

3. Building and road damage.

4. Power and water outages5. Possible bridge failure stranding residents on the island.

Join in with the Camano Preparedness Group as they instruct how you can prepare for and get through a difficult emergency. Earthquakes are classified in categories ranging from minor to great depending on their magnitude. A magnitude 3 earthquake is minor. A magnitude 8 or higher is the most powerful earthquake known. This program is supported by the Camano Preparedness Group (CPG) and the Camano Island Library Friends.
