Be Still
• 08/28/20 at 11:09PM •Be still my love.
Be still tonight,
For tomorrow will bring,
A new, everlasting light.
Be still my love.
Be still tonight,
For tomorrow will bring,
A new, everlasting light.
When love is tender.
When love is right,
Love will last us
Through the long night.
I think of you often,
but then, again,
you have always been,
the best friend.
You know who you are,
so let it be,
a friend for a wretch,
exactly like me.
I try to be humble,
not hard to do,
making it difficult
when not seeing you.
I will keep trying
at my own pace,
until such time,
I am gone from
this saddest place.
The morning is cool,
as is the night.
The afternoon sunny,
what a treasured delight.
What will happen to you and I
if life gets worse; and we don't try
to change the course of our History
by returning to a life of love and civility?
Upon this ground,
where I long to be,
is one short step
into life's uncertainty.
Your eyes were green,
in morning light.
Your voice was sweet.
as Honey might.
Your skin, a shade
of moonlight Dew,
You captured my heart,
as you always do.
Weep no more.
Weep not for me,
For it will be soon
And I'll be free.
Free from worry,
Free from all scorn,
As I flee from this
My current life's norm.
She will remember not of our yesterday,
as all thoughts are gone. Gone away.
Escaped from that lovely mind of hers.
Escaped in the words of this new verse.
The window opens.
Time will pass,
through the space
but not the glass.
Like English Ivy, a spreading vine
around my life's path did entwine.
Growing in all directions, as I see
my path to the future is no guarantee.
The thoughts in my head
do abound,
but aren't factual, trusting, solid
or sound.
Running the gamut of imagination
some profound,
have brought me to a place
without sound.
