I sit next to her,
she is my wife,
every day it seems,
all of my life.

Her memory is almost
gone from her.
It is this awareness
and what I fear.
I am afraid now,
like never before.
Afraid my love,
will be no more.

A close friend is gone,
from this disease.
I must pray to God,
get down on my knees.
"Please spare her," I say.
Don't leave now,
don't go away.
