{"id":13892,"url":"https://www.kudos365.com/news/13892-the-hurt-i-cannot-see","short_url":"https://www.kudos365.com/news/13892","headline":"The Hurt I cannot See","content":"I see my love, every day.\r\nWe talk about when she\r\nwas having radiation and chemo,\r\nfor treatment of lung cancer.\r\nThe good news; Cancer is in remission,\r\nBad news, early onset dementia.\r\nI believe this was triggered by\r\nor accelerated by the chemo treatment.\r\nWe saw that early, when she\r\ncouldn't remember our anniversary\r\nand she was unable to balance\r\nthe checkbook or pay bills.\r\nHer mother had dementia, in her late 80's.\r\nI am seeing similar behavior\r\nin my love. She can't remember names\r\nor the names of objects. She does remember\r\none name and that is our Granddaughter.\r\nConfuses the names of our two sons\r\nand our close friends.\r\nShe told me that she didn't know my name.\r\nEvenings are the worst. There is a tendency to wander\r\nor get in a discussion that is close to an argument.\r\nThen I'll hear \"Put me in a home.'\r\nI tell her no, that's not going to happen.\r\nThere is no logic or reasoning present.\r\nI'll talk to her and she won't hear me,\r\nso I raise the volume of my voice and\r\nthen she tells me, \"you don't need to shout.\r\nTonight, in the space of 10 minutes, she \r\nasked me if it  was raining.
