When I was young\r\nMy two cousins and I would spend\r\nSummers there. We could play,\r\nGo fishing or swim below the pumping\r\nPlant. Inside the Plant were huge\r\nPumps, that propelled the water, up the\r\nHillside, through huge pipes. It was quite\r\nThe project, in it's time.\r\nOur grandfather would also, ride the ditch\r\nBanks for inspection and remove animals\r\nThat fell in. I remember, on one trip,\r\nMy grandfather pointed out some\r\nPronghorn Antelope in the Sage brush,\r\nDistance. This was back in the late 40's.\r\nThe land East of the Pumping Plant\r\nIs now fenced off and his part of the\r\nYakima Firing Center.\r\nMy cousins and I would go hiking\r\nThere before the fence was erected. \r\nWe looked for petrified wood fragments.\r\nOn several occasions we would find small\r\nlogs or branches, 12 inches long. We would\r\nretrieve and take them back to the main house.\r\nThe logs may still be there.
