Between a Rock and a Hard Place
• 07/17/23 at 09:39AM •Between a rock
and a hard place,
we would often say,
life's not a sprint,
it's a long race.
Between a rock
and a hard place,
we would often say,
life's not a sprint,
it's a long race.
When I recall the beginning,
and am now facing the end,
life has become very real,
it is no longer "Let's Pretend."
Why are some people, contrarians,
always seeking an argument,
taking time from others,
without paying life's rent.
There is nothing free, in this World
and there may never be.
Even "free love"
is never cheap or free.
Pave the way to the stars,
please do it for she.
Help her to find her way
as she is important to me.
The Sun arose this morning,
spreading its warm rays,
across field and mountain,
ocean, lakes and streams.
A warming Sun, growing plants,
makes my heart sing,
music to my soul. I want to spend
more time with my loved one,
before she leaves or is gone.
So long tomorrow.
Goodbye yesterday.
What happens today,
When you've gone away?
Wind and rain,
splattering the glass,
freshens the air,
as a storm just passed.
Rocks and soil,
sprinkled with rain.
Dimpled the look,
no longer just plain.
When angels sing,
their voices sweet,
what a divine,
heavenly treat.
Lest you think
your lost,
in a heavenly abode,
remember love is no cost.
Writing out the words
which appear in my head,
is the way I remember,
else, I forget is my dread.
Wooden fence rails,
as far as I could see.
Bleached by the Sun,
How long could it be?
Miles and miles
of wooden fence rail,
impressive it was.
It might never fail.
A beautiful fence,
my looking didn't tire.
Thank the lord,
They didn't use barbed wire.
Barbed wire, the great
ruiner of jeans,
one rip from it,
you had new seams.
Words spin freely,
from out my mind,
about loving another,
and not being unkind.
Slanting rays of topaz,
floating through the air,
promising salvation,
removing the despair.
